Competition Squad &
Competition Coaching

​Our Competition Squad is designed for riders who are already competing, or are approaching competition level and looking to develop the skills and confidence required to perform successfully at shows.

These sessions are focused on specific show jumping and dressage skills, competition preparation and developing the ability to perform under pressure. Riders can be coached on either their own horse or a WEC riding school horse, depending on their goals and competition pathway.

We also provide opportunities to experience riding outside of the home arena through clinics, training days and off-site opportunities wherever possible. These experiences are an important part of preparing riders for the different environments, warm-up situations and pressures they will encounter at competitions.

Interschools & Competition Pathways

School riders who have their own horse can work towards competing at Interschools competitions, with WEC supporting riders throughout their competition journey.

Some of the Interschools events we attend include:

• North West Equestrian Expo – Coonabarabran

• ISHE Tamworth Interschools

• NSW State Interschools Championships

Our coaches attend selected competitions throughout the year, supporting riders from start to finish. From preparing at home and arriving at the competition, through warm-up, competing and everything in between. Our goal is to make sure riders feel supported, prepared and confident throughout their competition experience.

Where possible, transport to local competitions and Interschools events can also be arranged.

Competition Coaching

If you are looking for additional competition preparation or coaching at a show, we can provide coaching on either your own horse or a WEC riding school horse. Our Riding school horses only attend local competitions and clinic days. If you wish to look at competing at interschools compeitions we can support you on the journey to purchase your own horse and agist with us. See more details below.

Coaching on Own Horse – per day

• Local competitions – From $80 dependant on coaching required

• Travel competitions – Prices are dependant on location, if accomodation is required

Coaching on WEC Riding School Horse

• Local competitions only – $330 include coaching and transport

Joining the Competition Squad

Our main goal is always to provide a safe, positive and supportive pathway into competition, while helping each rider develop the skills, confidence and experience to progress towards their individual goals.

Buying your own horse

Throughout our time at WEC, we have proudly supported riders from their very first lessons through to purchasing their own horse and competing successfully around NSW.

We understand that purchasing a horse is a big step, and finding the right horse is an important part of a rider’s development. We work closely with each rider to carefully select a horse that is suited to their current ability, confidence, goals and future growth pathway.

Our support can include:

• Attending horse viewings where location allows

• Reviewing videos, photos and information provided about potential horses

• Speaking with sellers and asking the important questions about the horse’s history, temperament, experience and suitability

• Assisting with organising and reviewing pre-purchase vetting

• Providing guidance throughout the purchasing process to ensure the horse is the right match for the rider

Once your horse has been purchased, we can also assist with transport options to WEC and provide ongoing agistment and support.

Through our agistment services, we provide 24/7 care and support, helping new horse owners navigate the responsibilities of horse ownership. This can include guidance around:

• Feed and nutrition

• Supplements

• Farrier appointments

• Vet and physio visits

• Worming schedules

• Tack and equipment management

• General horse management and welfare

• Ongoing riding and competition coaching

Our aim is to make the transition from riding school rider to horse owner a positive and supported experience, while helping both horse and rider continue to develop together.
